Ant Commander is a file manager developed by Anthony Goubard. This utility is great for those who are looking for an alternative to the Windows Explorer and have already tried some others. This may be the definitive tool. Ant Commander is totally configurable and allows you to access all your files from one single window. You can configure the menu, the toolbars, the panels, the actions, file colors to distinguish file types, among many other possibilities. You can add your own tabs or customize the toolbar with links to your favourite programmes. It supports several file systems like, zip, ftp, SFTP, HTTP, webdav, etc. Besides, it includes several kinds of panels, directory table, directory tree, text editor, image viewer, html viewer, command line, applet viewer and more. Ant Commander includes all the most common operations such as copy, move, delete, rename and multiple rename, create folders and files, zip, unzip, execute programs and documents, etc. It is also possible to record macros to automatize repetitive commands.
Ant Commander is available for free for personal use only, and if you want to use it within a business or institution you are asked to pay for a license. It works on Windows, MacOS X, and Linux.
